Privacy Policy
The short version
EditLab collects nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising identifiers, and no crash-reporting service. Your footage, projects and exports stay on your Mac.
What stays on your Mac
- Imported media, projects (
.elab), and everything you export. - Editing work: repairs, keyframes, transitions, characters, narration audio.
- App settings and the style preferences EditLab learns as you work.
Microphone and speech
Voice control and voice-over recording use the microphone only while you have started them. EditLab does not store or transmit your audio. Speech is transcribed by macOS’s own speech recognition, on-device when your Mac supports it; where it does not, macOS may handle the request through Apple’s speech service under Apple’s privacy policy. Either way, the developer of EditLab never receives it.
The one optional network feature
EditLab has a Director pass that is off until you paste your own Anthropic (Claude) API key. When you click it, your written brief and your clip timings are sent to Anthropic’s API using your key, and a shot plan comes back. Your video, audio and images are never sent. Remove the key and the feature stops. Anthropic’s handling of that request is covered by their own privacy policy.
Children
EditLab is a general-audience creative tool and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
